6.5-Inch Hairdressing Scissors
6.5 inch hairdressing scissors (about 16.5 cm) combine the reach of a long blade with the handling of a salon pair: ideal for slide cutting, perimeters and fades. In this length you will find the TU ELITE, with a sword blade in Japanese steel and an ergonomic semi-offset handle.
When do you need 6.5 inch scissors?
6.5″ is the length for long sections and movement: the blade takes more hair in one pass, follows the perimeters of long cuts and suits slide cutting, where the scissors glide along the section. Compared with a 6″ it still stays agile, which is why many hairdressers use it as their main pair for women's cuts with movement and for fades on men's cuts.
| Model | Length | Blade / teeth | Main use |
|---|---|---|---|
| TU ELITE | 6.5″ (also 5.7″) | Sword blade, semi-offset handle | Slide cutting, perimeters, fades |
| TSS68 ELITE | 6.8″ | Sword blade | Perimeters, fades, slide cutting |
TU ELITE 6.5″: sword blade and semi-offset handle
The TU ELITE is designed for advanced techniques and building movement: a sword blade, an ergonomic semi-offset handle that brings the wrist into a more natural position, a ball bearing and Teflon Tech for a smooth close. Choose 6.5″ for wide sections and slide cutting; 5.7″ is the short version for detailing.
6.5 or 6.8 inches?
If you need even more reach, for example for bobs, long perimeters or scissor over comb, the 6.8″ TSS68 ELITE also has a sword blade. You will find the longer blades in the long 6.8 and 7 inch hairdressing scissors collection; the article scissors for the bob cut: why you need a long blade explains when they are worth it.
Slide cutting: why the blade matters
Slide cutting needs an edge that glides without pushing the hair: that is why sword and convex blades are used. The differences between edge types are explained in beveled, convex or semi-convex blades and in convex blades, Teflon Tech and ball bearings.
Pairings, sharpening and guarantee
A 6.5″ pairs well with a short pair for detailing, such as the TL PRO, and with thinning shears: that is the idea behind the TOUCH Cutting system. Sword blades should be sharpened by someone who knows their geometry: the TOUCH sharpening service works to the original profile. Legal guarantee of conformity under the law of your country for consumers (12 months for business purchases with a VAT number) and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
TOUCH was founded in 2012 by a group of professional hairdressers: if you are unsure which pair to choose, contact us for personal advice.
