Thinning shears or texturizing shears?

The first question is how much hair you want to remove. 30-tooth thinning shears remove a lot of hair with every close: they reduce bulk and lighten thick hair. Double-tooth texturizing shears remove less and more gradually: they blend, soften and add movement without leaving marks. In the salon both are often used, for two different stages of the cut.

DENTATA FLOW and TEU630 PRO: two 30-tooth thinning shears

DENTATA FLOW and TEU630 PRO are two 6″ thinning shears in steel, with 30 teeth, a semi-offset handle and ball bearing: both designed to remove bulk, lighten heavy hair and create movement without losing length. They suit normal to thick hair and anyone who works on many clients a day.

TUX625 ELITE: double-tooth texturizing shears

The TUX625 ELITE is a double-tooth texturizing shear in Japanese steel: it is dedicated to blending, transitions and progressive lightening, building a soft texture with no visible lines. It is the pair for texturizing ends, softening a one-length line or blending layers. The differences are explained in the article thinning shears or texturizing shears: 30 teeth or double teeth.

How to use toothed shears

Work on combed hair with thin sections, opening and closing the shears without sliding: to thin out, go in at mid-length; to texturize, work on the ends. Do not use toothed shears near the root on fine hair. Toothed shears do not replace cutting scissors: they are paired with a precision pair such as TL PRO or TK MASTER. The TOUCH Cutting system includes thinning shears in every kit and, in the Completo System, the TUX625 ELITE too.

Sharpening toothed shears

Toothed shears have one smooth blade and one toothed blade: they should be sharpened by someone who knows this geometry. The TOUCH sharpening and maintenance service also works on toothed shears. Legal guarantee of conformity under the law of your country for consumers (12 months for business purchases with a VAT number) and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

TOUCH was founded in 2012 by a group of professional hairdressers: if you are unsure which pair to choose, contact us for personal advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between thinning shears and texturizing shears?
30-tooth thinning shears (DENTATA FLOW, TEU630 PRO) remove a lot of hair with each close and reduce bulk; double-tooth texturizing shears (TUX625 ELITE) remove less and more gradually, for blending and texture without marks.
Which shears are right for texturizing the ends?
To texturize ends and lengths without hard lines, use double-tooth texturizing shears such as the TUX625 ELITE; to remove bulk from heavy hair, use 30-tooth thinning shears.
What is the difference between DENTATA FLOW and TEU630 PRO?
Both are 6″ 30-tooth thinning shears in steel, with a semi-offset handle and ball bearing, designed to remove bulk and lighten heavy hair.
Do thinning shears shorten the hair?
No: they remove hair in a distributed way without reducing the overall length. That is why they are used after the cut, to lighten or add texture.
