Which professional hairdressing scissors should you choose?

The right pair is chosen by function, not by price or length: one pair for precision, one for sliding, one for removing bulk and, if you barber, a long blade for the comb. Here are the TOUCH professional scissors currently on sale, compared side by side. If you prefer to be guided, answer the five questions of the “Find your scissors” quiz on the home page.

How to choose: start from the function

  • Precision and detailing: TL PRO for point cutting and everyday work, TK MASTER for geometric shapes and clean lines.
  • Slide cutting and movement: the sword blades of TU ELITE and TSS68 ELITE glide through the hair without pushing it.
  • Barbering and scissor over comb: the 7″ TS7 PRO covers the comb in one pass; the 6.8″ TSS68 ELITE combines perimeters and fades.
  • Removing bulk: DENTATA FLOW and TEU630 PRO are two 30-tooth thinning shears with a semi-offset handle, both designed to lighten heavy hair.
  • Seamless texture: the double-tooth TUX625 ELITE blends and softens.

Which length: 5.5, 6, 6.5 or 7 inches?

Short lengths (5.5″, about 14 cm) give maximum control for detailing; 6″ (about 15 cm) is the most versatile; 6.5″ and 6.8″ (about 16.5 and 17 cm) cover wider sections; 7″ (about 18 cm) is the barber length for scissor over comb. You will find the scissors grouped by length in the 5.5 inch, 6 inch, 6.5 inch and 6.8 and 7 inch collections.

R steel, straight or sword blade

Blade geometry matters as much as the steel: learn more in the guides on beveled, convex or semi-convex blades and on convex blades, Teflon Tech and ball bearings.

Not one pair, but a system

A hairdresser works better with two or three pairs chosen by function. The TOUCH Cutting system brings together 3, 4 or 5 complementary scissors. Read also how many scissors a hairdresser needs and the guide on how to choose hairdressing scissors.

Sharpening, guarantee and returns

Every pair must be sharpened to suit the geometry of its blade: the TOUCH sharpening and maintenance service works on convex, flat and toothed blades. To know when it is time, read how often to sharpen hairdressing scissors. Legal guarantee of conformity under the law of your country for consumers (12 months for business purchases with a VAT number) and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

It depends on the function: TL PRO or TK MASTER for precision and detailing, TU ELITE or TSS68 ELITE for slide cutting, TS7 PRO for barbering, DENTATA FLOW or TEU630 PRO for removing bulk, TUX625 ELITE for texture. The best choice is to combine two or three pairs with different functions.

How many scissors does a hairdresser need?
Usually two or three: cutting scissors for precision, a pair for sliding or long sections and a toothed pair for removing bulk or adding texture. The TOUCH Cutting system brings together 3, 4 or 5 pairs chosen by function.
What guarantee do TOUCH scissors have?
Legal guarantee of conformity under the law of your country for consumers (12 months for business purchases with a VAT number) and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
